Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas welcomed a baby girl earlier this year via surrogacy. According to the baby girl's birth certificate, she has been named Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, TMZ reported.

The baby girl was born on Jan. 15, 8:00 p.m. at a hospital in San Diego. The couple first shared the news via Instagram in January.

"We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much," the couple wrote the same message on their separate Instagram accounts.

At that time the couple received mixed reactions from the fans. While many people congratulated the couple, others noted that surrogacy should be done only when the mother can't have a baby biologically.

Chopra, 39, and Jonas, 29, started dating in September 2016. Jonas visited Chopra's house to attend a party but left without getting too close. "We hung out for a couple of hours," Chopra told Vogue in 2018. "He patted my back before he left."

"There was no kiss. There was nothing. She’s still upset about that," Jonas recalled about that party in the same interview. "Your mom was in the house! I thought it was a respectful first night."

The couple were spotted together at various events and eventually got married in December 2018.

Jonas, who dropped his music album "Spaceman" in March 2021, shared that the songs were "love letters" to Chopra.

"She loves it," he told USA Today ahead of the album's release. "Most of the songs are pretty much just love letters, which when I can't articulate the way I feel with my words with no music, I go to the studio."

On the work front, Jonas will be next feature in a drama movie, titled "Jersey Boys Live!" It is helmed by director Des McAnuff and will also star Andy Karl and Matt Bogart.

Chopra, on the other hand, will be seen in the movies like "It’s All Coming Back to Me," "Citadel," "Ending Things," "Cowboy Ninja Viking," "Sheela" and "Jee Le Zara."
