Proposition 8, which banned same sex marriage in California, has been ruled unconstitutional in a federal appeals court.

The judges involved in the ruling, which was made in San Francisco on Tuesday afternoon, mentioned some big Hollywood names, including Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe.

Had Marilyn Monroe's film been called 'How to Register a Domestic Partnership with a Millionaire,' it would not have conveyed the same meaning as did her famous movie, even though the underlying drama for same-sex couples is no different, the judges wrote, according to Reuters.

Since the ruling, Twitter feeds have been bursting at the seams with reaction from celebrities like Chaz Bono, RuPaul and Modern Family stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet.
