Sony released a PS3 firmware update that allows you to upgrade the console's software to version 4.45. However, when PS3 owners applied the update, many reported problems, including the inability to use the console at all when the new software was installed.
This hasn't affected every single PS3 owner who applied update 4.45, but why risk it? So, don't update your PS3 if you haven't yet. Rest assured, Sony is aware of the problem and is working on the issue. In the meantime, Sony has taken the update offline.
