  • Pochettino recently replaced Tuchel as PSG's new head coach
  • He previously managed Spurs in the Premier League
  • He wants to sign Spurs' Dele Alli at PSG

Mauricio Pochettino, who recently was appointed as the new head coach of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), reportedly has made direct contact with Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli to discuss a potential move to Paris.

Pochettino, who recently replaced Thomas Tuchel as PSG’s manager in the middle of the 2020-21 season, wants to reunite with Alli, who starred under the Argentinian’s management at Spurs, according to French media outlet Foot Mercato.

In the summer of 2020, PSG made several offers to Spurs for Alli but was bluntly rejected by the North London club’s president Daniel Levy.

Pochettino's appointment may have happened just a couple of days ago, but the former Spurs manager has begun to familiarize himself with the practices of the club based in the French capital. He spoke to some players such as Neymar, Marquinhos, and Di Maria, apart from approaching Alli, who had a great run at Spurs, having scored 55 goals and providing 52 assists in 194 appearances, during Pochettino's reign in North London between 2014 and 2019.

The 24-year-old Alli has fallen out of favor with Jose Mourinho at Spurs. In the ongoing campaign, the former MK Dons youngster has started only once in four Premier League appearances, while he is yet to score in the league.

The Foot Mercato report also stated that since Alli is no more in Mourinho’s plans, Spurs are open to selling the England national as a part of a six-month loan and PSG have not lost interest in the midfielder as their sporting director Leonardo has been in regular touch with the player’s representatives.

It is believed that Alli and Pochettino had a great relationship at the Premier League side and reuniting the two could strengthen PSG further.

Five years ago, Tottenham signed Alli on a five-and-a-half-year from MK Dons and since then, the English midfielder has netted 64 competitive goals in 233 matches for the club.

Having played 16 league matches in 2020-21, Spurs are placed fourth in the Premier League table, while PSG are third in the Ligue 1 table, behind Lyon and Lille.
