Psy Talks About Convincing BTS’ Suga To Appear In Music Video Of ‘That That’
Korean superstar Psy got candid about how he was able to convince BTS’ Suga to join him in the music video of his new track, “That That.”
The 44-year-old “Gangnam Style” artist took to Twitter on Thursday and revealed how he convinced the 29-year-old BTS member into working doubly hard for the track whose teaser videos have reached millions of views since its release on YouTube this week.
In a 30-second promotional video uploaded on Psy’s official Twitter page, Suga recalled how he ended up in the song’s music video when he only wanted to produce the track for Psy.
“To be honest, I haven’t gotten that close with anyone I collab with, it’s because I’m not usually the type to meet up with collaborators in person,” Suga began in the first part of the clip. “But he (Psy) wanted to see me in person.”
Psy then said, “In the beginning, we met because he wanted to produce my music but he ended up featuring on the track.”
Suga also said that he and Psy went “back and forth a lot” as he worked on the song but he “seriously didn’t expect to be dancing with Psy.” Suga added, "I thought I was only writing the song."
With a slight grin, Psy said the BTS’ rapper ended up learning the intense choreography of the track. “Step by step, he got involved more and more deeply, our Yoon-gi,” Psy said before letting out a wicked laugh.
The 10-second third trailer of “That That” uploaded on Youtube Thursday shows Psy and Suga dressed in Cowboy outfits in an old Western movie background. The pair is also shown jamming inside a car and dancing inside a saloon with backup dancers, also dressed in cowboy costumes.
The track is set to be released Friday and is the first single from Psy’s new album “Psy 9th.” The album also contains collaborations with other K-pop artists such as Jessi for "GANJI," Hwa Sa of MAMAMOO for the cover of Jermaine Jackson and Pia Zadora’s 1984 single, “When the Rain Begins to Fall” and with singer and songwriter Crush for the track, “Happier.”
