Puerto Ricans celebrate heritage in New York City Parade
Thousands of Puerto Ricans gathered on Sunday with the island's flag to celebrate the 52nd Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade along Fifth Avenue in New York City.
Salsa, merengue and reggaeton music was played as dancers walked bye featuring colorful costumes. Approximately 1 million spectators attended the parade, according to NY1.
This parade means everything. It means my culture, my pride, who I am, what I believe in - it's everything to me, one Puerto Rican spectator said today, according to NY1.
This year's festivities had the theme, Celebrating our Music. They day is meant to celebrate Puerto Rican heritage in a city where they are the largest Latino group with 789,000, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
