11 New Netflix Movies To Watch In November
As we say goodbye to more than 30 movies and television shows on Netflix at the end of October, the new month brings a new crop of movies to choose from (or add to your queue and promptly forget until it's too late). From the 45 movies and a few TV shows coming, here's our list of the best ones to stream on Netflix.
"Snowpiercer" (Available Nov. 22)
The wait for "Snowpiercer" will be worth it. Joon-Ho Bong's sci-fi tale of revolution set on a train stars Chris Evans ("Captain America") as Curtis, a hero for the lower class stuck in the back of the train. Tilda Swinton delivers an over-the-top performance and Bong's signature genre-mixing -- think of a totally absurd, slapstick comedy scene following an intense, emotional moment -- is also used to great effect.
"Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" (Nov. 1)
Comedic heist movies are easy to enjoy, and "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" delivers the fun with two great actors, Steve Martin and Michael Caine, trying to one up each other.
"Airplane!" (Nov. 1)
An absolute comedy classic with so many classic one-liners, sight gags and setups that have been quoted so much they've become a part of pop culture. Everyone knows the "Don't call me Shirley" bit, right?
"Fatal Attraction" (Nov. 1)
Catch this tense thriller starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close. Director Adrian Lyne made a name for himself with his run of movies in the late 1980s into the 1990s including "Nine 1/2 Weeks," "Jacob's Ladder" and "Indecent Proposal."
"Cleopatra" (Nov. 1)
Old Hollywood excess at its finest. "Cleopatra" exemplifies the end of an era of filmmaking where studios spent vast sums on massive sets, hundreds of extras and lavish flourishes. The movie was expensive, costing $44 million to make in 1963, or more than $300 million in 2013 dollars -- and it nearly bankrupted 20th Century Fox.
"Kingpin" (Nov. 1)
Woody Harrelson and Randy Quaid star in this Farrelly brothers comedy about bowling. "Kingpin" also features a memorable cameo from Bill Murray that's more than enough incentive to watch the movie.
"Total Recall" (Nov. 1)
The original, not the recent remake starring Colin Farrell, is a great sci-fi movie based on Philip K. Dick's "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale." Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone star in a trippy movie about memory and Mars.
Netflix Comedy Specials
Cheating a bit here, but there are several comedy specials coming to Netflix in November. Doug Benson's "Doug Dynasty" kicks things off on Nov. 6 and Chelsea Peretti's "One of the Greats" special arrives on Nov. 14.
"Nebraska" (Nov. 8)
If you missed "Nebraska" when it came out in theaters, earning big buzz that lead to six Oscar nominations, now's your chance to see what all the hype was about.
"The One I Love" (Nov. 29)
This could be the sleeper hit of November. Mark Duplass and Elisabeth Moss star as an unhappy husband and wife who head off to a weekend retreat, but.... "The One I Love" has a twist that elevates it beyond another "couple dramedy."
"The Rocketeer" (Nov. 1)
Panned when it was first released, "The Rocketeer" has gathered steam over the years and the movie has attracted quite a following.
