President Barack Obama is expected to announce Thursday evening that he is shielding millions of undocumented immigrants from deportation. Since he has been in office, many have looked to the president to make immigration reform a political priority.

For the past few years, celebrities with ties to immigrant communities have used their fame to highlight the difficulties undocumented children, families and workers face. Here’s what some of them have said:

“People say, ‘Oh, get in the back of the line,’ [but] people don’t realize there’s a hundred lines to get into. It’s a very broken system.” -- Eva Longoria of "Desperate Housewives" on ABC's "This Week"

"I realize the issues are complicated. But it's not just in the interest of immigrants to fix the system: It's in the interest of all Americans. Keeping families together is a core American value.” -- Diane Guerrero of "Orange Is the New Black" in Los Angeles Times

"Immigrants are such a huge part of this country and its distinct diversity. We need to respect and celebrate that because immigrants and their subsequent generations contribute so much to this country."-- Jamie-Lynn Sigler of "The Sopranos" in New York Daily News

“Our country stands to gain so much from passing comprehensive immigration reform -- in terms of economics, in terms of business booming, in terms of ... taking the spirit of the immigration community and letting that be channeled towards making this country great, which is what this country is supposed to be about." -- America Ferrera of "Ugly Betty" in Politico

“As a former undocumented immigrant I understand the fierce desire to become a citizen. Too many people are living in limbo, we must lift the millions living in the shadows and give them the chance to officially become Americans.” -- Cesar Millan of "The Dog Whisperer" in a PSA shared by National Council of La Raza
