iPhone 6S Release Date In Photos: Fans Line Up To Own The Latest Apple Gadget
People sleeping in the streets. Long lines of passionate fans. No, we're not talking about the crowds waiting for Pope Francis in New York. It's iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus release day! Apple enthusiasts lined up outside Apple Stores around the world Friday to get the latest iteration of the iPhone.
People began queuing up last night before the iPhone release, but the fever may be over already. Apple stores were well-prepared to handle the flood of customers, but they may have overestimated the actual demand for the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. In London, the hundreds of people who showed up for the new iPhone seemed paltry in comparison to past launches. Millions of new iPhones will be sold, but lining up has lost some of its appeal now that Apple accepts reservations. Customers in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, the U.K., Germany, France and China were the first countries to get the new smartphones.
Crowds in New Zealand braved the rain to get the new iPhones. "First off, I love waiting and [second] it's an iPhone, and that's cool," Kane, a 17-year-old Apple fan, told the Sydney Morning Herald. Ryan Watkinson was the first person to grab an iPhone 6S, earning him a day of Internet celebrity.
