All eyes are on the NBA’s new draft class as teams and sports media are sizing up the stats of the fresh crop ahead of the 2015 draft. But beyond knowing the PPG and RPG numbers of any given player, there is a lot of other information that goes into knowing a player on and off the court-- like are they a cat person?

Thanks to the need to share their lives on social media combined with the data-collection and verification services provided by NBA Catwatch, this question can finally be answered. The good people at @NBACatwatch, their loyal followers and cat-lovers have been doing their best to catalog all of the NBA’s cat-owners.

So far, the search has yielded only eight confirmed cat-owners in the league:

Nicolas Batum: Biggie and Kim

Kosta Koufos: Mufasa

Brook Lopez: Poup

Robin Lopez: Edward

James Michael McAdoo: Macy

Alexey Shved: Chica

Nik Stauskas: Dribbles

The people of NBA Catwatch take their job seriously-- reaching out to players (via Twitter) and chasing leads and tips offered by that special cross-section of people that are interested in cats and basketball.

The obsession is part of a larger cultural phenomenon of the ridiculousness that is seeing men of 6-foot and upwards playing with tiny animals.

Unfortunately, not everyone is fond of this kind of human-animal relationship. NBA Catwatch also keeps track of known cat-haters, like Carmelo Anthony, who admitted in an interview with that he has a fear of felines.
