Own The Belafonte From 'The Life Aquatic' And Live Out Your Steve Zissou Fantasies For $350K
If you have a spare $350,000 hanging around in your couch cushions and happen to be a huge Wes Anderson fan, we've got some great news: The Belafonte, Steve Zissou's research vessel in "The Life Aquatic," is up for sale and it can be yours. That's right, put on your red cap and pretend to be Bill Murray for a day.
"The Life Aquatic" is the whimsical tale of Zissou, a famed oceanographer working on a new documentary covering the destruction of the Jaguar Shark that killed his best friend. While director Anderson has had a bit of a comeback of late -- with the Oscar-nominated "The Grand Budapest Hotel" and "Moonrise Kingdom" -- many point to "The Life Aquatic" as one of the filmmaker's weakest films. But despite the mediocre reviews, the 2004 film does have some charm and memorable moments.
If you're a wealthy Anderson completist, owning the Belafonte may be near the top of your "must-have" list. The Maritime Sales website has the vessel up for sale, and it seems like a steal at $350,000. Built in 1956 and measuring 150 feet long, it had tours in the British Navy and the South African Navy before starring in "The Life Aquatic."

As for what you could do with a giant boat? Create your own "Life Aquatic" theme park! Get a couple of Zissou-approved uniforms and reenact the pirate scene. It'll be a twee dream come true. If you're lucky enough, maybe Murray will show up unexpectedly.
