With conflicting predictions from the groundhogs Monday, the Northeastern U.S. is backing the ones who didn't see their shadow. While New England has the Super Bowl win to warm them, the rest of the East Coast of the United States is dealing with freezing temperatures and ice on Tuesday. Vaccinations Become the Hot Topic Among Politicians

Monday saw several politicians weigh in on the vaccination debate. President Barack Obama made a clear statement, saying children should be vaccinated and that his stance was backed by science. New Jersey governor and likely GOP presidential candidate Chris Christie said parents should have a "choice" regarding vaccinations, drawing heavy criticism and later saying he sided with Obama. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said vaccines should be "voluntary." On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton weighed in on the issue on Twitter. And Brendan Nyhan, an assistant professor of government at Dartmouth College, discussed the polarized politics of vaccinations and the anti-vaccination movement in an article in the New York Times.

Easier Commute Afoot For Detroit Man

James Robertson has to walk a total of 21 miles every day because there is no bus that takes him from his home in Rochester Hills, a community in Oakland County just northwest of Detroit, to his job, the Detroit Free Press reported. Robertson's car broke down in 2005 and he has been walking ever since. When news of his daily commute spread online, fundraisers were quickly set up, and as of Monday night, more than $119,000 has been raised for Robertson.

Charles Manson's Marriage License Set To Expire

Afton Elaine Burton, 26, and the infamous madman, now 80, received a 90-day marriage license in 2014 and the couple wanted to get married at California State Prison at Corcoran, the Washington Post reported. The license will expire on Thursday and while Manson seems noncommittal on the marriage, Burton expressed her desire to marry the convicted mastermind behind the "Helter Skelter" killings in August 1969. She is expected to file another 90-day marriage license.

Britain Approves Three-Parent IVF Treatment

Britain has approved the use of a "three-parent" in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure, Reuters reported. The treatment involves genes from the mother and father as well as a third set from a female donor. The process is used to eliminate mitochondrial diseases, which are passed down from the mother. These incurable diseases affect close to one in 6,500 children.
