"True Detective" Season 2 premieres on HBO on Sunday, June 21, at 9 p.m. EDT. HBO

“True Detective” has done it again. HBO released the first trailer for the second season of the acclaimed drama – but the only thing that anyone can focus on is Colin Farrell’s ridiculous mustache. That’s right, while we lost Matthew McConaughey’s Fu Manchu 'stache from Season 1, we gained Colin Farrell and “The Zappa.” Gross.

Check it out in all its sketchy facial hair glory:

Based on Farrell’s eye-catching facial hair, we’re assuming that he’s fit to take over McConaughey’s role as a twisted detective in the HBO series. The 38-year-old actor will portray a “compromised” detective named Ray Velcoro. Set in California, Season 2 tells the tale of three police officers and a “career criminal” who must “navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.” While Farrell’s character works for the police department, he’s torn between helping them and the “mobster who owns him.”

Joining Farrell as officers of the law are Rachel McAdams as Ani Bezzerides and Taylor Kitsch as Paul Woodrugh. Vince Vaughn plays the “career criminal,” Frank Semyon.

“True Detective” Season 2 premieres on HBO on Sunday, June 21, at 9 p.m. EDT.
