Pumpkin carving, one of the best parts of Halloween, is back. Pumpkin carving is basically associated with the holiday of Halloween and everyone loves to carve pumpkin this time of the year.
Pumpkin carving is known as the best and fun parts of Halloween, because the patterns help to create that scary effect.
In U.S. the carved pumpkin was first associated with the harvest season, before it became an emblem of Halloween.
It was named after the incident of strange lights flickering over peat bogs, called jack-o'-lantern.
In a jack-o'-lantern, the top is usually cut off, and the inside is hollowed out, creating an image of, usually, a monstrous face.
Artist Russ Leno of Sleepy Hollow Master Pumpkin Carvers of Seattle works on a 657-pound pumpkin at Microsoft's Redmond, Washington campus on Oct. 27. Leno was hired by Microsoft to carve the jack-o'-lantern which will be auctioned to company employees to raise money for charity before Halloween. The giant pumpkin was grown at Holland's Land-O-Giants farm in Puyallup, Washington. Leno is scheduled to carve a pumpkin for Vice President Al Gore in Washington, D.C. this weekend.
