Is ‘Quantico’ New Tonight? Find Out When Season 2 Returns
Those looking for a new episode of “Quantico” tonight will be disappointed. The ABC drama aired its winter finale last week, so fans won’t see any new episodes for a while. When the show does return, it’ll be on a new night.
“Quantico” Season 2 returns to ABC on Monday, Jan. 23 at 10 p.m. EST. The time slot was previously occupied by “Conviction,” which was only given a 13-episode order.
It isn’t clear what will occupy the old “Quantico” timeslot nor is it clear what show it will be paired with on Mondays. “Dancing With the Stars” previously occupied the earlier Monday slots, but the competition show won’t return until spring. It’s possible a new drama, like Shonda Rhimes’ “Still Star-Crossed” or Kevin Williamson’s “Time After Time” could precede it.
The bigger mystery, however, is how “Quantico” will deal with that cliffhanger. In the winter finale, Ryan (Jake McLaughlin) was revealed as a terrorist, leaving Alex (Priyanka Chopra) shocked. As previously reported, Alex will want answers about her love’s new loyalties.
“That was a big shocker. None of us saw that twist coming,” Chopra told the Hollywood Reporter. “I think that takes her a while to also understand, and she goes into figuring out why Ryan would do what he did. And the answers will be very interesting. It is a theme of the back half of the season.”
Fans will have to wait until 2017 to see Ryan’s reasons though. ABC hasn’t released any summaries for next year’s episodes, but showrunner Joshua Safran has promised TV Guide that there will be some returning cast members and even more morally gray areas explored at The Farm. He also noted that the terrorist attack would end soon.
“The terrorist event doesn’t go the whole season, so we’re going to wrap that up. You’re going to learn what it was really about and who was really part of it and why they were part of it,” he teased.
The midseason premiere of “Quantico” Season 2 airs Monday, Jan. 23 at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
