Queen Consort Camilla Tests Positive For COVID-19 Again, Cancels Upcoming Engagements

Queen Consort Camilla has tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time.

A year after her first diagnosis, Buckingham Palace announced Monday that Camilla contracted the virus again and had to cancel her upcoming engagements.

"After suffering the symptoms of a cold, Her Majesty The Queen Consort has tested positive for the Covid virus," the palace said in a statement, People reported. "With regret, she has therefore canceled all her public engagements for this week and sends her sincere apologies to those who had been due to attend them."

In February last year, Clarence House announced that Camilla, 75, tested positive for COVID-19. She tested positive four days after her husband, then-Prince Charles, entered self-isolation following his own coronavirus diagnosis.

"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall has tested positive for COVID-19 and is self-isolating. We continue to follow government guidelines," a spokesman at Clarence House said in a short statement on Feb. 14, 2022.

The palace said at the time that Camilla was tripled-vaccinated against the viral disease.

In addition to King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla, his son Prince William also tested positive for the coronavirus in April 2020, while the late Queen Elizabeth II contracted the virus in February 2022.

A month after her first diagnosis, Camilla opened up about her lingering symptoms during a meeting at Clarence House.

"It's taken three weeks and still can't get shot of it," Camilla told rowers Kat Cordiner, Abby Johnston and Charlotte Irving, according to Hello! magazine. "Probably my voice might suddenly go, and I might start coughing and spluttering."

Since Camilla is down with COVID-19, she won't be able to travel to the West Midlands in England for her engagements Tuesday as previously planned.

She was set to visit the Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham for its 100th anniversary and drop by the Southwater One Library in Telfold to recognize its community contributions.

The Queen Consort was also set to join His Majesty in Milton Keynes Thursday to celebrate its new status as a city.

Queen Consort Camilla was in good spirits during two back-to-back days of engagements last week.

Last Wednesday, she and King Charles visited East London and met activists who were involved in the anti-racism movement of the 1960s and 1970s. The couple also planted a tree at Altab Ali Park, which was named in honor of a young British Bangladeshi man who was murdered in the area in 1978.
