Queen Elizabeth, Camilla Look Happy Together Even Though Monarch Wanted Duchess ‘Gone’
Queen Elizabeth II and Camilla Parker Bowles looked as though they were having a wonderful time at the Braemar Gathering Highland this weekend.
During their outing, Her Majesty donned a purple coat and matching purple hat as she joined 15,000 cheering spectators at the event in Aberdeenshire village. The Queen serves as the patron of the historic event.
The Braemar Gathering Highland event features various types of activities such as hammer throwing, tug of war, and tossing the caber. Prince Charles, Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, and his wife, Autumn Phillips were also in attendance.
Her Majesty sat in between Camilla and Prince Charles during their outing. The Duchess of Cornwall stunned in her fuchsia coat and maroon hat. The mom of two leaned towards the monarch during their outing. Prince Charles, on the other hand, wore a suit and tartan skirt.
The Queen and Camilla’s appearance at the event wasn’t entirely a surprise for fans. But it came in the heels of reports that the Queen wanted Camilla gone shortly after Princess Diana’s death.
While speaking with Daily Mail, royal expert Penny Junor said that the Queen’s desire for Camilla to be removed from Prince Charles’ life was not personal because the 93-year-old royal actually liked Camilla.
“She had been very fond of Camilla in all the years she had been married to Andrew Parker Bowles — but it was Camilla who had been responsible, wittingly or not, for all the disasters that had befallen Charles since his marriage,” Junor said.
But throughout the years, the Queen and Camilla’s relationship has improved. There have been several instances wherein the two royals were photographed in public looking as though they were having so much fun.
Her Majesty also showed her support for Prince Charles and Camilla’s relationship even though she didn’t attend their civil wedding in 2005. In her speech, the Queen gave the couple her blessing and approval.
