Queen Elizabeth II has been forced to deal with Prince Andrew’s controversy on her own and without her husband Prince Philip.

The Queen is facing a tough year due to the various controversies plaguing the different members of the royal family. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were criticized for taking private flights, being overprotective with Archie and being emotional on their interview with ITV.

On the other hand, Prince Andrew has also been plagued with Epstein drama due to his connection with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. For these reasons, Dan Wootton of The Sun called this year Queen Elizabeth II’s “annus horribilis 2.”

According to royal expert Ingrid Seward, the Queen is badly affected by the situation. To make the matter worse, Her Majesty has to deal all of these issues without the Duke of Edinburgh.

“This affects her deeply. For a start, her husband is 98 and probably not in the best of health, so, she hasn’t got him by her,” Seward said.

“This is her favourite son and she wants to protect him.”

Many believed that Prince Andrew is Queen’s favorite son. In fact, they were seen last summer attending Sunday services in Balmoral. Also, the Queen stands by her son after his interview.

Just recently, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Andrew were seen horse riding together. Richard Palmer shared snaps of the mother and son enjoying the activity on Twitter.

While some criticized the Queen for still supporting Prince Andrew amid his scandal, many also understood Her Majesty’s decision. According to those who supported the monarch, the people should not forget that she is Prince Andrew’s mother.

“She’s a good leader for asking her son to step down from his Royal duties & also a good mother for NOT disowning her son,” one netizen commented.

Meanwhile, a source told InTouch Weekly that Prince Andrew is “lucky” because he is the Queen’s favorite. The source said that she was pretty sure that the monarch watched the interviews and was aware of the gravity of the accusations against her son, but the Queen will still believe him as many mothers do.
