Queen Elizabeth Has A Special Request For Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Archie
KEY POINTS
- Queen Elizabeth invited Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the Commonwealth Day celebration next month
- The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's attendance hasn't been confirmed
- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could reunite with Prince William and Kate Middleton
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may no longer be considered as working members of the royal family, but they are still very much a part of the British clan.
According to Mirror UK, Queen Elizabeth just invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as well as their 10-month-old son, Archie, to attend the Commonwealth Day annual celebration on March 9.
Prince Harry and Markle are expected to join the other members of the royal family at Westminster Abbey. The Sussexes will be arriving in the United Kingdom a few days before the event.
Royal correspondent Roya Nikkah also tweeted about the Queen’s invitation.
“It comes as the Queen has urged the royal family not to obstruct Harry and Meghan’s aspirations for a new life, while negotiations continue over their deal to step down from royal life. The Queen has said: ‘If that’s what they want, if they want to go, we must let them go,’” she tweeted.
According to The Sunday Times, the royal couple hasn’t confirmed their attendance at the Commonwealth Day celebration. But if they will make it, this will serve as their final round of official engagements before they return to Canada.
Last month, Prince Harry and Markle announced their decision to quit as senior members of the royal family so that they could become more financially independent. Weeks later, the royal couple attended their first non-royal engagement in Miami, Florida.
The Duke of Sussex served as a keynote speaker at a JP Morgan event, where he talked about his mental health struggles. Markle, on the other hand, attended the event to show her support for her husband.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Markle are also expected to reunite with Prince William and Kate Middleton at the Commonwealth Day celebration. According to reports, the royal siblings haven’t fixed their rift. Middleton and Markle, on the other hand, haven’t spoken to each other in weeks.
