Queen Elizabeth II Bypassed These Royal Rules, Traditions For Meghan Markle

Queen Elizabeth II bypassed a slew of royal rules and traditions in favor of Meghan Markle ever since she joined the British clan.

Carly Read, a journalist for Express, compiled a list of all the things that changed since the Duchess of Sussex wed Prince Harry on May 19. For instance, there have been longstanding rules when it comes to the music played at royal weddings, but the Queen relaxed this order to allow Prince Harry and Markle to choose a track they like.

Traditions continued to be broken after the royal nuptials when Prince Harry became the first member of the royal family to wear a wedding ring that he designed himself. And when Markle attended this year’s Trooping the Colour event, she was photographed in an off the shoulder dress, which hasn’t been done by other female royals throughout the years.

Markle has also been photographed wearing wedges, which is a type of footwear that Her Majesty dislikes. A source said, “Queen Elizabeth banned wedges a long time ago simply because she doesn’t like them. She really doesn’t like them and it’s well known among women in the family.”

Female royals are also required to wear stocking or tights during public engagements. Markle has followed this tradition in recent months, but she didn’t do so when she got engaged to Prince Harry. When they stepped out following their engagement interview, royal fans were quick to notice that Markle’s legs were bare.

In related news, Markle also made headlines this week after it was reported that her feud with Kate Middleton has been brewing for an entire year. A senior royal aide revealed that Markle’s arrival into the royal family turned sour after she was dubbed as downright rude.

“Kate had a quiet word with Meghan. It escalated rapidly after Meghan complained to Harry that she had been ‘told off.’ He took her side, while William defended Kate, who was five months pregnant with Louis and certainly didn’t want this sort of confrontation,” the source told Express.

And in order to avoid any more confrontations, Markle and Prince Harry have decided to move out of Kensington Palace early next year.
