Queen Elizabeth II is a very loving grandmother, and she was also quite hands-on with her grandchildren especially when they were much younger.

In a newly unearthed video taken in 1986, Her Majesty is running after young Prince William to prevent him from hitting Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s wedding carriage.

The clip shows the monarch in her purple ensemble holding her clutch bag in her right hand and Prince William’s hand in the other. The monarch seemed concerned that if Prince William reaches the carriage, he might get hurt.

“Late post, but it’s been 33 years since the wedding of Prince Andrew and Fergie in 1986. And so here’s Queen Elizabeth running after little Prince William to stop him from getting closer to the carriage… Her Majesty as a grandma is cute,” the fan captioned the video.

After the Queen finally caught Prince William, she obviously seemed more relaxed. During the Duke and Duchess of York’s royal wedding, the Queen stayed close to her grandson.

In one photo, Prince William is holding a piece of paper while standing outside Westminster Abbey. Beside him is the Queen and not his parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

Another photo shows the Queen bending a little bit to point something out to Prince William. By the looks of it, Her Majesty was trying to keep her grandson entertained.

Meanwhile, the Queen also has a special bond with her other grandchildren. Susan Constantine, a human behavioral expert, told Good Housekeeping that Her Majesty is incredibly attentive, hands-on, and engaging whenever she’s with her grandkids.

During one of her outings with Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, and Zara Tindall, the Queen holds hands with Princess Eugenie. She also tells Princess Beatrice that she could ride a bigger horse when she is much older like her other cousins.

The Queen has eight grandchildren from her four kids, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward.
