Queen Elizabeth May See Kate Middleton As ‘Equal,’ Meghan Markle As ‘Giggling Grandchild’
Queen Elizabeth II reportedly sees and thinks differently of Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.
Judi James, a body language expert, said that the differences are made evident with the way that Her Majesty interacts with the two Duchesses.
“It’s becoming increasingly clear from their body language together that Kate and her grandmother-in-law are friends as well as queen and future queen. The Queen takes a role-sharing approach when she’s out with Kate,” she told The Sun.
James went on to explain the intense mirroring between the monarch and Middleton during their first solo outing in London. While in the car, the Queen and the Duchess of Cambridge were photographed sharing a blanket. Other than sharing a blanket, Middleton and the Queen also waved to the crowds in a synchronized manner.
According to James, all of these are in contrast with how the Queen interacts with Markle.
“Meghan might be the same age as Kate but she chose a very different body language behavior on her first public engagement with the Queen. Unlike Kate, who had spent years integrating slowly, Meghan was fast-tracked into her royals duties and as a result, her body language looked more youthful and compliant as she studied the Queen carefully as a ‘newbie,’” James explained.
The body language expert weighed in on Markle and the Queen’s first solo outing in Cheshire in June 2018. She said that Markle tried to entertain Her Majesty by making a joke. Prince Harry’s wife also placed her fingers to her mouth in a schoolgirl-style gesture that made it look as though she was confiding or sharing her secrets with the 92-year-old.
Overall, James said that Middleton and the Queen tended to use signals of an evenly-based friendship, but Markle and the Queen, on the other hand, appeared to have a grandmother-granddaughter relationship.
James also said that Middleton and the Queen’s interactions and body language have stayed the same ever since their first public outing years ago.
