Queen Elizabeth, Meghan Markle ‘Best Friends’ Before Banning Duchess From Jewelry Collection
Queen Elizabeth II and Meghan Markle were very close prior to reports claiming that the latter was banned from using the Queen’s jewelry collection.
New reports claimed that Prince Harry was upset after Queen Elizabeth II banned his wife from using her jewelry. The monarch was reportedly not impressed with Markle’s demands, especially that she’s just a new member of the royal family.
According to Martina Bet, a journalist for Express, “the recent rumours of a rift between the Duchess and the monarch stand in stark contrast to reports of their friendship that emerged in 2018 documentary ‘Harry and Meghan: The First 100 days.’” In the said documentary, royal experts deemed the two royals “best friends.”
The documentary highlighted the close bond between the pregnant royal and the monarch. The show noted how Her Majesty made “unprecedented” move when she summoned Markle for a “sleepover” on the royal train and how they became “best friends” the next day.
According to Katie Nicholl, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were not given the same privilege of staying overnight on the royal train. It was only brought out for “very special occasions as it is very expensive to run.”
The author of “Harry: Life, Loss, and Love” added that the Queen looked so “happy and delighted” with Markle. Queen Elizabeth II and Markle also looked very relax and were even photographed giggling together.
Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth II’s former aide Dickie Arbiter also noticed the Queen’s connection with Markle. According to him, the day following their sleepover, when they carried out their joint engagement in Chester, was “brilliant.”
Prior to the claims that Markle was banned from using Queen Elizabeth II’s jewelry, many already noticed that unlike Kate Middleton, she hasn’t worn any of the pieces from the Queen’s collection except for the tiara she wore on her big day. However, Prince Harry’s wife has been seen wearing Princess Diana’s butterfly earrings and bracelet.
Jewelry expert Lauren Teff and Charlotte Balbier believed that Markle and Middleton have different taste in jewelry. The Duchess of Sussex doesn’t need to loan jewelry from the Queen because she has her own collection and prefers contemporary blings. Meanwhile, Middleton is more into the “royal traditional styling” that one can find in the Queen’s vault.
