Queen Elizabeth II has been dubbed as “so warm and so human” by singer Dennis McNeil.

During an interview with People, McNeil what it was like meeting Her Majesty. He said that while he was performing a song, he saw the monarch pull out a lipstick from her handbag and she applied it on.

“She took out her lipstick and as I sang, she applied a fresh coat of lipstick and I just thought, ‘That is so warm and so human,’” he said.

While singing “It Had to Be You,” McNeil said the Queen tapping her feet to the track. After his performance, one of the guests told McNeil that Her Majesty leaned on her and said that it was so nice to hear real music.

And when McNeil sang “Oh What A Beautiful Morning, he saw the Queen singing along and thought that it was really cool. After the entire night, the Queen had the opportunity to tell the singer that his performance and music were so delightful.

“As the car started to pull away, she gave that trademark wave through the window. It was pretty phenomenal… I couldn’t sleep that night, it was a Cinderella kind of night… I never wanted the evening to end,” he gushed.

According to the publication, McNeil received an invitation to sing for the Queen two months ago and he immediately accepted it. The Los Angeles-based tenor singer reached out to the palace before his performance to ask what kinds of songs the Queen likes.

McNeil was told that the Queen is a huge fan of show tunes especially the ones featured in “Oklahoma.” While at the dinner, Her Majesty talked about the first opera she heard, which was “Tristan and Isolde,” at just 8 years old. The Queen Mother took her and Princess Margaret to watch the show.

Other than music and the opera, the Queen and McNeil also talked about hip replacements and hip surgeries. The singer said that he had no idea why they talked about it.
