Queen Elizabeth showed her sweet and soft side to the public after the birth of Princess Anne’s eldest child, Peter Phillips.

In a throwback photo taken in 1977, the monarch is smiling from ear to ear while holding Phillips’ small hands. She is dressed in an olive-green dress with matching bandana.

Also, in the photo is Princess Anne, who is sitting on a chair while cradling Phillips. Princess Anne is also wearing a matching blue and white dress and bandana. Unlike the Queen, Princess Anne has a more serious look on her face.

Phillips, who had just been born days earlier, is wearing a long gown. By the looks of it, he is crying and the Queen is trying to console him. Phillips is the eldest grandchild of Her Majesty. There are also rumors that he is her favorite grandchild.

The photo, which was uploaded by a royal fan on Instagram, was also compared to the other photos featuring royal births. Four years after Phillips was born, Princess Anne gave birth to her daughter, Zara Phillips-Tindall.

A photo shows a more relaxed looking Princess Anne wearing an oversized yellow maternity dress and olive-green jacket. She has a faint smile on her face while carrying Tindall in her arms.

One year later, Princess Diana gave birth to Princess William. She stepped out of St. Mary’s Hospital’s Lindo Wing alongside Prince Charles. The Princess of Wales, who was clad in her green and white polka dot maternity dress was the first royal to give birth at a hospital.

The late Princess Diana’s hair is made up, and she also has makeup on her face while stepping out of the facility. Prince Charles is smiling from ear to ear as he waves excitedly to the massive crowds.

Two years later, Princess Diana stepped out of the same hospital while carrying Prince Harry in her arms. This time around, she’s wearing a white and red maternity dress.
