Although Meghan Markle and Prince Harry discussed their decision to “step back” from their royal duties before their announcement, Queen Elizabeth was reportedly “very angry” that they did not share their plans with senior royals.

An ex-press spokesman from the palace claimed that Meghan and Harry’s statement renouncing their duties may have left the monarch “more angry” than Prince Andrew’s BBC Newsnight interview, in which he discussed his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffery Epstein.

During an appearance on “Good Morning Britain,” Dickie Arbiter suggested Queen Elizabeth would be disappointed with Meghan and Harry.

“The Queen will be feeling very let down and very angry, probably more angry than she felt after Andrew’s car crash interview,” he said.

Arbiter claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex dropped a major “bombshell,” whereas Prince Andrew’s Epstein scandal has been “going on for ages.”

The former spokesperson went on to discuss how the announcement caused a stir in the royal family. “[Prince Harry and Meghan Markle] had a brief chat with the Prince of Wales some time ago, and he cautioned them to get everything in place before you make an announcement,” Arbiter claimed.

Despite their conversation with Prince Charles, Meghan and Harry “didn’t listen to him.” Instead, they surprised the royal family by publically sharing their plans for the new year and created further tension within the monarchy.

“There was a time when there was coordination when households talked to each other. That one wouldn’t overshadow the other one - that’s how good organizations work,” he said.

In their announcement, which was released on Wednesday, Meghan and Prince Harry explained their desire to give Archie a unique upbringing.

“We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honor our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages,” the statement read.

“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.”

The palace has since revealed the Meghan and Prince Harry’s decision is still in its early stages.
