Queen Elizabeth II was present during Prince Louis' christening, but not in the way everyone expected it.

According to Alahna Kindred, a journalist for Daily Express, the Queen was present during Prince Louis' christening last week. This was shown in the family photos that were taken in the historic Morning Room at Clarence House.

In one photo, one can see Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince William, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. However, behind the Duke of Sussex is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The photograph was captured when the Queen was in her younger years. She wore a blue dress with a matching hat in the portrait. So in a way, Her Majesty was still there.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip did not attend Prince Louis' christening. There were speculations that it was due to the Duke of Edinburgh's health. However, according to the Buckingham Palace, the decision was made "some time ago."

Aside from the royals, Middleton's family was present at the event as well. Michael and Carole Middleton arrived together. The duchess' sister, Pippa Middleton, also attended with her husband, James Matthews.

Prior to Prince Louis' christening, royal expert James Brooke said that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will make a compromise. Prince William and Middleton would make the occasion a "private event," but they will still share photos.

"Judging by the previous christenings, and the importance of the day for the family, Louis’ christening will be a private affair, perhaps no surprise there," Brookes said. "The Cambridges are well aware of the media spotlight on and interest in their family - we saw that with the recent photos of Prince George and Princess Charlotte playing at the polo match."

"We'll no doubt have the official christening photos, as we did with Prince George and Princess Charlotte," he continued. "These photos, and the images of the family arriving, will be seen as a compromise by the Cambridges. They give the photographers something to work with and then they expect a bit of privacy for the rest of the day."

On Sunday, the palace shared the official photos taken during the event. They also posted an adorable photo of Prince Louis giggling while Middleton carried him on her arms. The said photo immediate gained positive response from the royal fans.
