Queen Elizabeth II can request any decadent dish she'd like from her chef, but sometimes she likes to kick back with something more casual. The monarch apparently loves a very common British meal.

According to The Sun, the Queen loves fish and chips. Sources say that the Queen doesn’t want it made by her personal chef but instead has a staffer pick it up in town when she is staying at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Don’t worry, the 93-year-old isn’t clogging up her arteries with cholesterol all the time. It sounds like she doesn’t indulge in fried food too often.

“She very occasionally treats herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral,” a source revealed. “A footman is dispatched to get it from the local town of Ballater.”

It isn’t clear where exactly the sovereign likes to get the take out from, but Trip Advisor lists a few restaurant options for the best fish and chips in Ballater. Among the options are The Balmoral Bar, Phoenix Chip Shop and The Deeside Inn Restaurant.

The Queen is rather specific about the foods she doesn’t like. As previously reported, Her Royal Highness hates pungent foods like garlic and onions, which can leave her with bad breath at public engagements. She doesn’t like to eat rare meat or sandwich crusts either. She is even specific about her eggs, insisting that brown ones taste better than the white.

The Queen is said to dislike starches as well, but it seems she can make an exception for fish and chips. After all, what’s fried fish without some French fries and tartar sauce?
