Quentin Tarantino recently revealed that he is “steering away” from the upcoming “Star Trek” movie after being attached to the project for more than two years. But it seems that the movie is still in the mix and Tarantino might be directing the film after all.

According to a ScreenRant report, Simon Pegg, who has been a regular in the recent “Star Trek” franchise, has revealed that the “Django Unchained” helmer’s sci-fi project is still possible and it is down to Tarantino as to which project he wants to do next.

In an interview given to GoldDerby, the “World’s End” star opened up about the future of the epic fantasy series. “As far as I know, Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Star Trek’ idea is still kind of in the mix. That’s down to Q.T. as far as what he wants to do next,” Pegg said.

In the same interview, Pegg also revealed that Noah Hawley’s “Star Trek” might not be the fourth installment in the highly successful series. The star explained that Hawley has been hired to write some stuff, but he does not know if that movie will be called the fourth one in the “Star Trek” world.

A couple of weeks ago, the “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” director noted that he is “steering away” from the very successful franchise though no official discussion about his exit has been done with the makers.

In an interview with Consequence of Sound, Tarantino opened up about his future plans and his last movie as a director. “I think I am steering away from ‘Star Trek,’ but I haven’t had an official conversation with those guys yet,” Tarantino said.

In November, it was reported that Hawler has been selected to write and direct the next “Star Trek” movie. Variety reported that all the original cast members – Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban and Zoe Saldana – will be returning for the fourth movie.

The movie helmed by Hawley will be the next installment in the series while the movie that Paramount is developing with Tarantino is reportedly different.

In related news, the Academy Award-winning filmmaker recently explained that “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” might be his last film and that is why he has taken the pressure off himself to make his last movie as some kind of a “statement.”
