'A Quiet Place 2' Super Bowl Ad Brings Back John Krasinski
A new look at the upcoming sci-fi horror follow-up to 2018’s “A Quiet Place” has surfaced with a 30-second Super Bowl trailer. The clip featured a little more of the same things we saw already, some new scenes and the surprising return of John Krasinski.
Krasinski, who recently went viral with his appearance in the Hyundai Sonata Super Bowl ad about the “Smart Park” feature, is in the opening moments of the trailer, in what looks like a flashback sequence. These flashbacks take place during the initial invasion.
Spoilers for “A Quiet Place” follow after this point.
If you saw the first film, you know Krasinski’s Lee Abbott didn’t make it to the finale because he sacrificed himself to save his family. The footage we’ve already seen from this trailer and previous clips show Lee’s wife, Evelyn Abbott (portrayed by Krasinski’s real-life wife Emily Blunt) leaving the house with her kids, carrying the shotgun she was seen with at the end of the film -- suggesting this takes place only moments after the first film. With the death of her husband still fresh on her mind, Krasinski’s character may pop up from time to time in flashback sequences.
Krasinski, who will spend much less time on screen, is returning to direct as well. He also penned the script. According to Entertainment Weekly, when talking about the film, Krasinski said that, following the destruction of their home, the family will have to “go out into the world and see how other people live, so they literally leave the path of safety and go into the unknown.”
You can see more from Krasinski and Blunt when “A Quiet Place Part II” releases March 20.
