Rachel Snider, Terrell Owens' Wife, Hospitalized After Alleged Suicide Attempt, Says She Was 'Suffering From A Broken Heart:' Report
The wife of former NFL star Terrell Owens was hospitalized last weekend after an apparent suicide attempt, according to a report.
Owens’ estranged spouse, a Texas woman named Rachel Snider, checked into a medical facility after moving back to her home state, TMZ Sports reports. After the separation, she announced on Twitter that she was “suffering from a broken heart.”
Snider’s condition is serious enough to require ongoing medical attention, TMZ reports; however, specific details on any injuries or illnesses aren't yet known.
News of Owens and Snider’s separation broke last Friday, just two weeks after they were married in a secret ceremony in Newhall, Calif. In an interview with TMZ, Snider claimed that Owens only married her because he was allegedly having financial trouble.
Snider claimed that Owens attempted to use their marriage as leverage to obtain a loan so that he could purchase a new home in California. “I felt in love ... and now I feel betrayed and heartbroken,” she said.
“I really valued his love and friendship for 5 years. Out of the love in my heart, I tried to help him. We had a secret relationship for 5 years and I married him for love.”
Owens said on Tuesday through a representative that he planned to initiate divorce proceedings, and that his financial situation had nothing to do with the dissolution of his relationship with Snider. “Money is not an issue for Terrell,” his representative told TMZ.
“Come on, she’s a postal worker,” the rep added. “Do you really think she’s the primary on the loan?”
