Racist Royal: This Princess Almost Lived Next Door To Meghan Markle

Princess Michael of Kent's alleged racist actions have once again resurfaced amid the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement.

Dubbed as the most controversial royal family member, Princess Michael, whose husband is the paternal first cousin of Queen Elizabeth, has long earned a notorious reputation for being discriminatory toward people of color. Claims of her racism have yet again been brought to the spotlight due to a recent testimony by Nicole Young, a TV personality and founder of the lifestyle site The Beautiful Body.

Young, who identifies as a bona fide lifestyle expert, according to her website, recalled her offensive encounter with the princess, which happened in 2004. In an interview with the New York Post, Young detailed the incident, claiming that Princess Michael had publicly told her to “go back to the colonies.”

“I think about it every single day,” the lifestyle guru said.

According to Page Six, the encounter happened 16 years ago when Young was having an exclusive dinner in the front room of celebrity hangout and Italian cuisine pioneer Da Silvano. Among the dinner guests were some high-profile personages such as CEO and investment banker Merv Matheson, former music executive Philmore Anderson, BET and “Extra!” reporter A.J. Calloway and entertainment lawyer Tamera Reynolds. And seated right next to their table was Princess Michael of Kent.

“We were loud, laughing, and carrying on. But it’s Da Silvano — it’s a boisterous place,” Young shared in her 2004 interview with New York Post.

But apparently, the royal was not pleased with them as only 10 minutes after her arrival, the princess reportedly slammed her open palm on the dining table, demanding for them to “quiet down,” Young recalled.

Even Matheson was shocked at the time and related the scenario to what would usually happen in a “school classroom.”

Meanwhile, Princess Michael asked to be reseated after her shocking move. But prior to transferring to a different table, the royal, while leaving the room, circled Young's group. She then allegedly pumped her fist, saying, “You need to go back to the colonies!” as per the New York Post’s original report.

Young recalled how infuriated she felt, saying that the woman was so “bold and brazen” and scoffing at her audacity.

“Later, I got up and went to her table in the back and let her have it. AJ came up behind me and whispered in my ear, ‘Don’t make yourself the criminal,’” she shared.

It was also because of this that Young speculated that Princess Michael may be the reason behind Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, refusing to live at Kensington Palace. And supposing that Markle had moved into the palace, she would have been next-door neighbors with the princess.

“Can you imagine Meghan [Markle] having to live next door to that?” Young said.

Young’s 2004 encounter with the princess is just part and parcel of the royal’s overall notorious display of racism. In 2017, Princess Michael sparked controversy after she wore a Blackamoor brooch—a style that depicts black men and women as slaves.

The princess had reportedly worn the brooch to the Queen’s annual Christmas lunch, where she was set to meet Meghan Markle for the first time. After her actions came to light, she apologized.

Initially, newlyweds Meghan and Harry had first wanted to move into the Kensington Palace apartments next to Prince William and Kate Middleton.

As per The Sun, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, who were the current occupants of the residential area, refused to move out. This then would have meant that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would have to occupy apartments near Princess Michael’s.

“The fact that they would have Princess Michael living at Kensington Palace, knowing she’s hideous, is outrageous,” Young told the New York Post. “And they wanted Meghan to move there? No.”

Young continued by saying how she finds it “ironic” for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to surrender their royal duties and move to the United States “because they felt unwelcome.” And yet, Princess Michael still remains.

“It’s not a good look for the royal family. All I have to say is, ‘Welcome back home, Meghan. Thank you for bringing someone new to our great country.’ No wonder she left!” the lifestyle blogger stated.

Young, though still scarred by her previous unpleasant encounter, now thinks of the incident as a reminder for her to “never put up” with such actions and to always trust her gut.
