After breezing through four opponents on his way to the quarterfinals, Rafael Nadal continues to look like the obvious favorite to capture the French Open. Up next for the Spaniard in his quest for a 10th title in Paris, is a matchup with fellow countryman Pablo Carreno Busta on Tuesday.

Nadal and Carreno Busta have faced off three times with Nadal winning all three matches, with two matches on the red-clay courts of Rio. In February 2016, Nadal defeated Carreno Busta in a rain-interrupted 6-1 6-4 match at the Rio Open. They had met a month earlier at the Qatar Open, a hardcourt tournament, with Nadal prevailing in three sets. In their 2015 meeting at the Rio Open, Nadal holding off Carreno Busta 7-5 6-3.

Carreno Busta, who is ranked No. 21, should give Nadal the toughest test of the tournament. The 25-year-old dropped just one set in the first three rounds. Carreno Busta then came up with one of the biggest upsets of the tournament, outlasting sixth-ranked Milos Raonic in five sets 4-6 7-6(2) 6-7(6) 6-4 8-6. The marathon match took four hours and 17 minutes.

"If I didn’t think I had a chance, I would not play," said Carreno Busta when asked about facing Nadal. "Of course it will be difficult because Rafa is the best player on the surface in history. I am maybe tired but I have one day off. We will see on Tuesday. He’s a really good friend. It will be a really special match for me."

But Carreno Busta's victory over Raonic was just the first in 17 attempts against a top-10 player. He will be facing Nadal, who looks as good as he ever has at Roland Garros. The match will also be played on Court Philippe Chatrier, a court where Nadal has thrived.

Nadal, who turned 31 last week, has surrendered just 20 games in the tournament and he breezed past No. 18 Roberto Bautista Agut in the Round of 16 on Sunday. In the Round of 32, Nadal conceded just one game.
