Ragu Recall: Full List Of Pasta Sauce Types Recalled Over Possible Plastic Fragments In Products
If you're looking to enjoy an Italian-style dinner this week, check first if the pasta sauce you have in the fridge or cupboard is being recalled.
The American subsidiary of the Japanese food company Mizkan announced Friday that certain types of Ragu pasta sauce are being recalled due to the possibility of plastic fragments in the product.
The FDA says there have been no injuries or complaints from consumers of the pasta sauce. The sauces were produced between June 4 and 8.
Food safety experts have warned against eating the food due to safety issues.
"If you have of the recalled sauce in your home, don't eat it," James E. Rogers, the director of food safety research and testing at Consumer Reports said. "When foreign materials, like plastic, get into food, it can cause injury."
The sauces being recalled are the Ragu Chunky, Old World Style Traditional and Old World Style Meat varieties.
A total of 9,130 cases of sauce have been recalled.
