Rams Remain Super Bowl Favorites, Patriots, Saints, Chiefs Make Up NFL's Top Tier In 2018
The Los Angeles Rams finally suffered their first loss of the 2018 NFL season, but they are still considered to be the best team in football. Even after allowing the New Orleans Saints to take their spot in the driver’s seat for the NFC’s No.1 seed, L.A. remains the favorite to win Super Bowl LIII.
The Rams lead the way after Week 9 with 4/1 Super Bowl odds, though they aren’t the heavy favorites that they were a few weeks ago. The New England Patriots (9/2) are given the best title odds of any AFC team. The New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs (11/2) have the same odds, putting them in the top tier of NFL teams.
Because they haven’t had their bye week, Los Angeles has the NFC's best record at 8-1. New Orleans is a half-game behind them in the standings at 7-1, though Sunday’s 45-35 victory gives the Saints an important tiebreaker. If the Rams and Saints finish with the same record, it’ll be New Orleans that gets home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
It’s a similar situation in the AFC, where the 8-1 Chiefs are a game ahead of the 7-2 Patriots. New England defeated Kansas City at Gillette Stadium earlier this season, giving them a chance to earn home-field advantage in the AFC playoffs. The Patriots finish the season with an easier schedule than the Chiefs.
That schedule includes the most highly anticipated game of the regular season. The Chiefs and Rams will meet on “Monday Night Football” in Mexico City on Nov. 19.
New England should cruise to an AFC East title, and the same goes for Los Angeles in the NFC West. Kansas City only has one fewer loss than the Los Angeles Chargers, whom the Chiefs will host in Week 15 in an important AFC West battle. The Saints are a game ahead of the Carolina Panthers in the NFC South, and the rivals will face off in Week 15 and Week 17.
The Pittsburgh Steelers (10/1) have the best Super Bowl odds of any NFL team outside of the top tier. They’re followed by the Minnesota Vikings (14/1) and Los Angeles Chargers (16/1).
