Rapper Bun B threatens T-shirt makers with lawsuit over unlicensed design
Rapper Bun B has threatened legal action against the designers of a line of T-shirts bearing his likeness and that of his late UKG bandmate, Pimp C , reports Contactmusic.com
The rapper was told about this infringement by an alert fan via Twitter who sent him a link to the black and white shirt carrying images of him and Pimp C with the words, “Trillionaire Boys Club” written across. The phrase was made famous by the duo.
Here is how the designers are advertising it on the net: “Bun B and Pimp C are two of the trillest to ever live it……. Carrying the torch of trillness for the Underground Kingz, Bun B is also known as the undisputed King Of The Trill. In fact, him and Pimp C damn near invented the concept of Trill. So without further ado, we bring you that official TBC gear. Trillionaire Boys Club
Bun B claims that he had no knowledge that his face was being used by the manufacturers of the range and he intends to sue the people behind this line of T-shirts.
After viewing the link, he wrote on his Twitter account, Unless there's a contract with me/estate (of Pimp C), you're looking at a lawsuit.
Pimp C died in December, 2007. Bun B or Bernard James Freeman has released three solo albums and his last album ,Trill OG received a 5 Mic Classic rating in The Source Magazine - the first album in over five years to receive the honor. Bun B is presently serving as guest lecturer for a semester at the Rice University in Houston, Texas, and he teaches a course in the School of the Humanities on Hip-Hop and Religion.
