What was supposed to be a cozy hang out turned into an arrest for Oakland rapper Kamaiyah.

The 27-year-old artist was recently booked for felony negligent discharge of a firearm and was released on $35,000 bond, according to TMZ.

The incident occurred at an apartment building in the San Fernando Valley. Kamaiyah and some friends headed to the building's movie theatre room for a private screening and all was presumably fine and dandy until she allegedly pulled out and fired a gun.

Surveillance footage reviewed by the condo complex management and law enforcement revealed that a woman -- believed to be Kamaiyah -- pulled a handgun from her bag which shot off a round. The woman fled the room shortly afterward.

Law enforcement told the entertainment news site that it appears the firearm discharge was accidental and not intended for anyone specifically.

Kamiayah first made her mark on the music scene in 2015 when she released her debut single "How Does It Feel," which was ranked as one of the best songs of the year by NPR and Pitchfork. The following year, her debut mixtape "A Good Night In The Ghetto" received rave reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone and more. Since then, the American rapper has collaborated with rap artists like Drake, YG and Quavo.
