Rapper Silento has been charged with two counts of assault for barging into someone’s house with a weapon while looking for his girlfriend in the Valley Village area of Los Angeles, local law enforcement authorities revealed.
The 22-year-old musician was arrested for allegedly entering into a random home in Bellaire Avenue in Valley Village, LA while holding a hatchet (small axe) in his hands, NBC first reported. The news was confirmed by a Los Angeles Police Department’s officer named Mike Lopez.
A report from TMZ stated that one of the people residing in the house called for help, while others tackled the “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” hitmaker and disarmed him. The outlet further said that one of the rapper’s friends also went inside the house and told him that they have entered the wrong house.
The duo fled the house as soon as the cops were called. The owners of the house and their kids did not suffer any injuries during the whole incident, ABC 7 reported citing a statement from the authorities.
The rapper is currently in custody on $105,000 bail and will be appearing at the Van Nuys Courthouse on Friday.
The incident happened just 24 hours after the musician was arrested by Santa Ana police for domestic violence on McArthur Boulevard, Billboard reported.
According to the media outlet, the singer, whose real name is Richard Lamar Hawk, was charged with inflicting injury on a spouse or cohabitant. He was later released.
Silento started his professional music career in 2015 when he released his debut single “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” on his official YouTube channel. The song became an instant hit and garnered more than 2 million hits in its first week.
However, his moment of glory came a week after the song was released as Capitol Records signed him and released the track with an official music video. The music video currently has more than 1.7 billion views on the video-sharing platform YouTube.
Silento received nominations at various award ceremonies, including BET Awards. Apart from BET, the artist was also nominated at Teen Choice Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards.
