Rays 4, Red Sox 0
David Price allowed three hits in eight scoreless innings and the Tampa Bay Rays blanked the Boston Red Sox 4-0 at Fenway Park on Wednesday afternoon.
B.J. Upton and Evan Longoria hit solo homers for the Rays, which won the final two games of the three-game series.
Boston managed only nine hits in the three-game set.
Price (11-10) struck out six and walked three. John Lackey (11-9) had his six-game winning streak snapped. Lackey allowed four runs on six hits in 6 2/3 innings.
Ben Zobrist had two hits and two RBIs for the Rays.
Boston played without designated hitter David Ortiz for the third straight game as he recovers from bursitis in his right heel.
The Red Sox remained one-half game behind the Yankees in the American League East and saw their wild card lead shrink to eight games over the Rays.
