Razer Raiju Mobile Brings Traditional Gamepad Experience To Android Smartphones
In addition to the Razer Phone 2, Razer has also announced the Raiju Mobile controller for Android smartphones. The new accessory is designed to provide users with a traditional gamepad experience for playing games on their smartphones.
The Razer Raiju Mobile borrows most of its design elements from the regular Raiju controller for the PlayStation 4. It comes with two control sticks, a D-pad, shoulder buttons and triggers, according to Android Authority. It also has a hair trigger mode and buttons for select, back, home and start. Under the grips, there are also two “Mecha-Tactile” buttons that should provide users with additional controls. Razer has a mobile app that will allow users to remap and customize all of the buttons on the Raiju Mobile.
The Razer Raiju Mobile also comes with an adjustable phone mount which can be tilted up to 60 degrees. This should be more than enough for players to find the most comfortable angle when playing games for a long period of time. The Raiju Mobile also connects to Android phones via Bluetooth, so users won’t have to mess around with wires to set it up.
Razer said that the Raiju Mobile can offer up to 23 hours of battery life on a single charge. The company didn’t provide the exact battery capacity that’s packed inside the controller. Users will be able to charge the controller through the USB Type-C port. The device will come with its own USB-C charging cable as well.
“A mobile configurator app allows advanced customization for a personalized setup. The Razer Raiju Mobile supports flagship Android phones and the biggest titles in mobile gaming, which include ‘Vainglory,’ ‘Lineage 2,’ ‘Dead Trigger 2’ and ‘Gear-Club,’ and many more,” Razer said in a press release.
Razer said that the Raiju Mobile controller is compatible with smartphones running Android 6.0 and above, as well as computers running Windows 7 and above. The original Razer Phone and the Razer Phone 2 are both compatible with this accessory. Other devices that are compatible with the Raiju Mobile include the Pixel 2 XL, Samsung Galaxy S9, Note 9, Galaxy S7, LG G7+ ThinQ, Oppo Find X, OnePlus 6 and many more. Games that don’t officially support the Raiju Mobile should still work since users have the ability to map touchscreen controls onto the device.
The Razer Raiju Mobile costs $149.99, but it doesn’t have a release date yet. However, it is expected to start shipping sometime within the next two months.
