Read Sarai Rodriguez-Miranda’s Texts Where Indiana Teen Talks About Poisoning Baby

An Indiana teen on the run for eight months has been charged with attempted murder for trying to poison her 11-month-old niece in January.

Sarai Rodriguez-Miranda, 18, was angry that her mother had allowed her brother, his fiancé and their daughter to live at their house longer, and decided to kill the infant by poisoning the breast milk kept in the refrigerator for the baby.

She would have succeeded in her plans if it was not for her mother discovering the string of texts that she sent to her boyfriend on Jan.12, revealing the details of her plan as it unfolded, the Journal Gazette reported.

The following is the sequence of texts that Rodriguez-Miranda mother found on her daughter's phone:

“I’m gonna crush up some of these pills since she decided they can stay longer and kill their baby.”

“I put the stuff in a made bottle in the fridge. Yeah I thought it was funny that I don’t have an ounce of guilt.”

“Omg I forgot to tell you, the bottle is gone. ... I know I’m so excited dude. I’m glad it didn’t happen while I was here.”

“Why didn’t that baby die dude thats dumb. They definitely threw it out. ... Yeah and I thought for a sec it could be psychosomatic where my subconscious is guilty so it creates these pains but tbh I hope she dies.”

“I don’t feel bad about it bc she was destined to grow up… or be abused. I’d never be suspect I know but I hope it works.”

As soon as Rodriguez-Miranda’s mother discovered the chilling contents of the texts, she took screenshots of the same and went to check the bottles of breast milk in the refrigerator.

She noticed that the color of the milk in one of the bottles was a shade darker, and there was a greenish residue at the bottom of the bottle.

Without wasting time, the baby’s grandmother informed her daughter-in-law about what her daughter had planned, and both rushed to the hospital to get the infant checked for any signs of poisoning. However, the baby was found safe.

The police was informed, who confiscated the milk bottles and a mortar and pestle which was used to grind the poison.

A forensic expert found that a drug called Excedrin, comprising of acetaminophen, caffeine and aspirin, was grinded and put in the milk.

“Excedrin is used to treat pain caused by tension headaches, migraine headaches, muscle aches, menstrual cramps, arthritis, toothaches, the common cold, or nasal congestion,” according to Drugs. However, an overdose of the drug can cause liver failure or death. The forensic expert said that Rodriguez-Miranda had mixed enough Excedrin in the baby’s bottle to kill an adult.

By the time her mother decided to confront Rodriguez-Miranda, the later had fled from her home with her boyfriend. She has been on the run for the past eight months and is currently on the wanted list of the state police. According to an Allen County Jail spokesperson, a warrant is out for her arrest. If caught, she will be held on $50,000 bail, New York Daily News reported.
