'Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills' Star Sutton Stracke Reveals Why She Was Demoted
Before "The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills" viewers were formally introduced Sutton Stracke on Season 10 of the series, the newbie had already apparently been demoted to a friend role.
While guest starring on the "Reality Life with Kate Casey" podcast in an episode released Friday, Sutton opened up about what stopped her from being able to fill the shoes of a full-time housewife on the Bravo reality series. As it turns out, it was because she wouldn't have been able to share an important part of her life with the cameras -- the three children she shares with ex-husband Christian Stracke.
"My ex-husband just was adamant that they could not film with me and I totally get it," she explained.
"It was hard. It was a hard blow because, you know, it’s exciting to do. And I wanted also viewers to see me with my kids and me at home. And it’s the softer side, I think, of all of us," Sutton continued. "When you get to see all of the ladies at home with their kids and their families, it’s kind of like, you know, you don’t they don’t show that much of it. It’s clearly not that interesting. But it’s the soft underbelly of who these women are. And I’m sorry that we can’t see that this season."
Despite the "hard blow," the "RHOBH" newbie is still happy to be a part of the show and feels that it gives her purpose.
"I needed to be a role model for my daughter. Like, come on, get yourself together and start doing something for yourself to make her proud," she began.
"And actually, my boys, too, they always wanted to know what I did all day. And it was, like, nothing. Like, go to the gym. I don’t...I didn’t have like a real purpose besides taking care of them. So it’s been fun to watch them watch me and then the show came up at this really opportune time and I think I finally had the guts to do something like this and take a risk."
When news first got out of Sutton's addition to the Season 10 cast, it was unclear what role she would appear in and now it's clear why. At the time that she was rumored to be the next to hold the coveted diamond, she would have joined Kyle Richards, Lisa Rinna, Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave, Dorit Kemsley, Erika Girardi, and Denise Richards as a full-time cast member. That place has now been secured by Garcelle Beauvais.
Season 10 of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
