Real Madrid Attacking Midfielder Expected To Bounce Back For Zinedine Zidane
KEY POINTS
- Marco Asensio has been out of action for the past few months due to an ACL tear
- Real Madrid expected big things from Asensio when he made his debut with the club
- Asensio is expected to bounce back for Zinedine Zidane and the rest of Real Madrid once he recovers from injury
The expectations are high for Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid provided the illustrious history fo the football club. One player expected to shine for the team this season is attacking midfielder Marco Asensio.
It has been a bumpy road so far for Asensio as he has spent the majority of the past few months injured. The Spanish standout may be considered as one of the better attackers in the team but a torn ACL has put him on the sidelines for months. The 24-year-old was already on track to show what he’s got for Los Blancos but the knee injury took a major halt to his momentum.
The usual recovery rate of a major knee injury like Asensio’s would entail around a year of rehabilitation. Although it happens often in professional sports, the process would still take hours of dedication and hard work to rally back from the setback.
Despite everything that has happened to him, Asensio is reportedly on pace to playing again on the field once the season pushes through. The extra time he gained from the suspension of the games has given him an additional recovery period to heal his injury.
This is a crucial stretch for Asensio as he has to prove that he is worthy of a spot in Real Madrid. Just a few years ago he was already expected to blossom as one of the team’s rising stars.
But now it seems anything below expectations may have him in danger of leaving the club. Per The Real Champs, the team will be relying on his services and is at risk of shipping off the team in 2021.
While it’s a big burden to carry, bouncing back from a major injury will be an incredible feat and will highlight Asensio’s character as an athlete. With 119 appearances for Real Madrid in La Liga, Asensio has scored 19 goals and has assisted on 28. These numbers will further increase in the long run if he is able to sustain the drive to play for Zidane’s club.
It will be interesting to see how Asensio can rally behind and prove to his team, to Zidane and to everyone watching the sport that he can bounce back stronger than ever.
