  • Man Utd have shown interest in Ajax's Donny van de Beek
  • The midfielder is heavily linked with Real Madrid too
  • Real reportedly have made an offer of $50m for the midfielder

Real Madrid reportedly have made a new offer for Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek soon after the club confirmed interest from Manchester United for the player.

It was reported earlier that Real had approached Ajax with an offer of $62 million for the 23-year-old. However, that offer was not processed because of the coronavirus pandemic's impact on the financials of soccer clubs.

The young midfielder grabbed the attention of several top-flight clubs after he scored the lone goal in Ajax’s 1-0 win over Tottenham in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final last season.

According to a report in NOS, Ajax chief Van der Sar has confirmed interests from Real and Man Utd.

“There will always be some who benefit from a crisis and some clubs will have to sell for less, but I think we're in a fortunate position thanks to our strong financial policy. We won't let go of our players for sale prices. We prefer to keep them here," der Sar said.

"It’s clear that clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United are showing interest in Donny van de Beek.”

According to the latest update in Web Transfer Market, Real boss Zinedine Zidane, who is an admirer of de Beek, has offered $50 million for the midfielder but nothing has been made official yet.

Meanwhile, the Sun has claimed that Man Utd have approached Ajax with an offer of $45 million for de Beek ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window. De Beek, who is a product of Ajax’s youth academy, has scored 10 goals in 37 appearances for the first team this season, across all tournaments.

Even though the talented midfielder still has two years left on his current contract, Ajax could struggle to keep the big offers away to retain the player for the next season, especially after they were denied the league title when the season was suspended without a champion, relegation, and promotion amid the coronavirus pandemic.

While Man Utd are very much interested in signing de Beek, they also have other targets to focus on if a deal with Ajax falls through.

It is widely known that Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been doing everything possible to get the signatures of Dortmund midfielder Jadon Sancho along with Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish. While Sancho’s transfer fee is expected to be at least $126 million, Grealish won’t come for cheap too as Villa have put a price tag of $101 million on their captain.

However, considering Real's offer is higher than Man Utd's, the Premier League side holds little chance of success in this transfer case.
