KEY POINTS

  • James Rodriguez has proven to be one of the game's top players
  • It has been a rough stretch for Rodriguez given the lack of playing time for Real Madrid
  • It's speculated that Rodriguez has a chance to play given Isco's recent injury

The games are back and Real Madrid is picking up momentum with another impressive showing in La Liga. Unfortunately, they will have to continue on without the services of their central attacking midfielder Isco.

Their recent 3-0 drubbing of Valencia puts them in a good position in the continuation of La Liga. Unfortunately, they were unable to field their veteran player Isco due to a hamstring injury. The Spanish footballer did not suit up in their most recent match as the medical reports indicated that Isco will be checked in the coming few days.

“Following the tests carried out today on our player Isco Alarcón by Real Madrid’s medical department, he has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury to his right thigh. His recovery will continue to be assessed,” the report said.

The crucial aspect of the Los Blancos’ offense comes from the trio of Isco, Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema. During their return game against Eibar, Hazard and Benzema were in perfect form against their opponents. It will be a major blow for the team that Isco can’t suit up yet but there are other options for Zinedine Zidane.

It will be interesting to see if one of these choices includes James Rodriguez who can make it big in the coming few games. Per The Real Champs, it's speculated that this may open a chance for Rodriguez to see some time on the pitch. If given the opportunity, Rodriguez can prove to Real Madrid that he is a valuable asset to the club.

The 28-year-old has had his share of success throughout his career and knows what it takes to succeed. The former World Cup top scorer can be utilized despite having only seven La Liga appearances this season. In his entire stay with Real Madrid, Rodriguez has had 124 appearances, 37 goals and 42 assists. There’s no question that he is a phenomenal player.

While reports have indicated that Rodriguez may not benefit any minutes at all from Zidane, this predicament may change that.

It’s a crucial stretch for Los Blancos as they’re slowly catching up to the league-leading Barcelona. The team standings have Real Madrid at second place with the record of 18 wins, eight draws and three losses.

It will be vital to see how Real Madrid moves forward with their lineup. Expectations are high for the organization and it’ll be important to note if former stars like Rodriguez will be given a shot with Isco currently out of action.
