  • Real Madrid snuck past Granada with a 1-2 victory
  • Sergio Ramos mentioned that the team would need to give it all if they want to win the championship
  • The La Liga title is within Real Madrid's reach as they just need to defeat Villarreal in their next match

The manner Real Madrid has performed ever since returning from the coronavirus suspension has been nothing short of dominant. After taking care of the tough Granada squad, the club has found themselves one win away from clinching this season’s La Liga title. While they have an advantage against Villarreal in their next match, Sergio Ramos insists that he wants to see more from his team.

The recent matchup between Granada featured a close affair with a final score of 1-2. The skills of Ferland Mendy and Karim Benzema were on full display again as they scored the two goals for the club. While it was a tough win for the squad, it featured numerous close calls. The club was able to pull away early with a 2-0 start but let Granada tally a goal during the second half.

Per Goal.com, Ramos found saw that as a point of improvement on the team and expects to play better in their upcoming big match.

"We let our guard down a little bit in the second half when we saw it was 2-0," Ramos said.

"Instead of going to kill the game and looking for the third, we relaxed,” Ramos continued.

While the team has been on a hot streak ever since the games resumed, their mindset is still to continue playing hard in every minute of the match.

"These things cannot happen because anyone can beat you if you don't keep the intensity. We've got to concentrate for 90 minutes. We won the first half but lost the second – maybe that's something to reflect on for the future,” Ramos shared.

The upcoming game for Real Madrid would feature a favorable matchup against Villarreal as they have a much better record. As the La Liga title is within reach, Los Blancos would first have to make sure that the fifth-place Villarreal is treated with respect.

"We can't relax. We're a bit closer. We've got to keep our desire to take the league. We're close but we'll carry on," Ramos said.

The consistency that Real Madrid has displayed after the break has been phenomenal. The team has ensured that they entered the games with the mindset to win.

"There are still points to play for and we depend on ourselves. The objective from the beginning after the break was to win every game and we are going to try. The team deserves a lot of merit for being up there and keeping these results going,” Ramos added.

With Ramos’ leading the charge, it is expected that Real Madrid will do whatever it takes to beat Villarreal and secure the La Liga championship.
