Real Madrid vs. Athletic Bilbao 2015: TV Channel, Live Stream Info, Kickoff Time For La Liga Match
Injury-riddled Real Madrid look to extend their undefeated La Liga record Wednesday when they visit the new San Mames Stadium to face struggling Athletic Bilbao.
After a scoreless result with Sporting Gijon in the season opener, Real Madrid have been on a roll, winning their next three matches and going the entire season without conceding a goal. However, Los Blancos still trail rivals Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in the early standings.
Rafael Benitez, who has indicated that only Cristiano Ronaldo is guaranteed to start against Bilbao, will certainly be without Sergio Ramos who is nursing a shoulder injury. Other serious doubts include attacking midfielders Gareth Bale (calf) and James Rodriguez (thigh), as well as fullback Danilo (knee).
Athletic Bilbao are coming off a 3-1 defeat to Villarreal on the road, and have just one win and three losses this season. Ernesto Valverde's squad are in 14th place and have yet to shut out an opponent. They did provide a decent effort against Barcelona to start the season, but still fell to the Catalans, 1-0.
Last season, Athletic defeated Real Madrid at San Mames off a goal from Aritz Aduriz. The 34-year-old has scored three goals in his last two matches this season.
With Real Madrid missing some notable players, Los Leones have a better chance of perhaps earning a draw or even upsetting the Spanish titans.
"We need to start winning," Valverde said. "I know we have Real coming up, but we need to win."
