KEY POINTS

  • Gareth Bale is one of the most talented players in the world
  • But his recent injuries and struggles with the team have caused a decline in his performance
  • In Real Madrid's return match, Bale only tallied 29 minutes for his club

There’s no question that Gareth Bale is one of the more talented players in the game. But the past few months have been rough for the 30-year-old with a series of injuries and his relationship with manager Zinedine Zidane.

Per The Real Champs, Bale has suffered once again another injury as it was reported to be a muscle injury in his leg. Throughout his stint with Real Madrid, the former two-time footballer of the year has seen some rough patches regarding his health. This recent development comes from just 29 minutes of action in Real Madrid’s return match against SD Eibar.

It was a dominant display by Los Blancos to reopen the season as they cruised through a 3-1 victory. While the strong win doesn’t come off as a huge surprise, it’s notable that Bale barely made an impact on the game.

The status of Bale in Real Madrid has been well documented in a rocky state. Couple this with reports that Zidane has openly shared before that it would be best for Bale to leave the club. While this has been over a year, Bale remains to be a part of Real Madrid but hasn’t been the same since.

It’s been a difficult stretch for Bale considering he was said to be fit and in strong physical condition prior to the games starting. Fans have seen what Bale is capable of when he’s fully healthy as proven in his already illustrious career.

Ever since suiting up for Real Madrid, Bale has been in 250 appearances and has scored on 105 separate occasions. Add to these 68 assists for a complete offensive game. The way he reads the defense passes the ball and delivers excellent crosses that put him as one of the games best.

It has been disappointing that injuries have caused the forward to not display his full potential on the pitch.

It will be interesting to see how Real Madrid moves forward with their lineup whether or not it includes Bale in the remaining games of the season. Expectations are high for the team now as they’re seeking to overtake their rivals FC Barcelona and come away with the La Liga title.
