The Real Reason 'Below Deck' Star Hannah Ferrier Is Leaving After Season 5
Season 5 of "Below Deck Mediterranean" has only just begun and fans have already received news that one of its longtime cast members plans on leaving.
During a video chat with Entertainment Tonight on Monday, Hannah Ferrier, a cast member on "Below Deck Med" since Season 1, revealed that Season 5 just might be her last.
"I think I'm probably done," the Bravo reality star revealed after being asked if she'd "thought about how many more years" she wanted to be on the show.
Hannah explained, "When I first started yachting in my very early 20s, you know, I would see these women who were in their late 30s, 40s, sitting at a bar, getting wasted with 20-year-olds living in a tiny cabin, and I was like...I don't want to get to the stage where I'm locked into yachting and there's nothing else in my life except that."
"It's a bit different if you're captain, but as a chief stew? They just don't seem like very happy people to me," she added.
As for what's next for the 33-year-old, it's a lot less dramatic than an episode of "Below Deck."
"I am really settled here in Sydney. I have my partner and my dog and they bring me more happiness than anything in life has," she gushed. "I'd just like to settle down and work in Syndey and, hopefully, have a rugrat or two."
Despite Hannah's confession, sources revealed to Page Six on Tuesday that they were baffled by the announcement because she apparently didn't quit but was instead fired. The insider explained that the stew had "crossed the line before" and "eventually went too far," noting that she's been in hot water previously for hooking up with a guest on the ship.
In any case, it appears to be the end of an era for the "Below Deck Med" OG, while its the beginning for six others. Alongside returning cast -- Captain Sandy Yawn, Malia White, and Hannah -- Season 5 will introduce newbies Chef Hindrigo "Kiko" Lorran, stew Lara Flumiani, stew Jessica More, deckhand Robert Westergaard, deckhand Pete Hunziker, and deckhand Alex Radcliffe.
Judging by the explosive trailer, the newbies don't waste any time bringing the drama as they take in the jawdropping views as they travel around the gorgeous island of Mallorca, Spain, on the largest vessel in "Below Deck" history -- a 184-foot mega-yacht dubbed "The Wellington."
"Below Deck Mediterranean" airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
