Reese Witherspoon Hit By Car While Jogging in Santa Monica, Suffers Minor Injuries
Reese Witherspoon was hit by a car while jogging in Santa Monica on Wednesday. She was rushed to the hospital, but released with only minor injuries.
Witherspoon, 35, an actress known for her roles in Legally Blonde and Walk the Line, was resting comfortably at home after the accident, her representative told Access Hollywood.
The police said the driver was an 84-year-old woman. She remained at the scene of the accident, which happened at the intersection of 20th Street and Georgina Avenue, and was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian. She was released and no further charges are expected.
Witherspoon's breakout role was in Legally Blonde in 2001. She starred the following year in Sweet Home Alabama, and in 2005 she played June Carter Cash in Walk the Line, an acclaimed performance for which she won an Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Leading Actress.
She was married to actor Ryan Philippe, with whom she costarred in Cruel Intentions, from 1999 to 2007, and they had two children together. She remarried earlier this year to talent agent Jim Toth.
